Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Road Section from Puttalam (3.00 km) to Nochchiyagama (53.00 km) Variation to the contract for Extension of Road Section by additional 19.1 km.

- the Government obtained a loan of US $150 million under the Asian Development Bank in 2007 towards the cost of highway upgrading which included upgrading of Puttalam - Anuradhapura road which was originally curtailed to a length of 50 Km. from Puttalam to Nochchiyagama for availability of funds. Since there has been a saving of US $11.0 million at present, Cabinet approval was granted to utilize these funds for the rehabilitation of the length of 19.1 Km. of road from Nochchiyagama to Anuradhapura and two other road sections in the vicinity.
