Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2024-04-25 (Subject to Confirmation at the next Meeting)

Duties to be performed by Sri Lanka within the year 2024 after accepting the Chairmanship of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA)

- Sri Lanka is required to organize several official meetings during the year 2024, after receiving the Chairmanship of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) which consists of 23 member countries bordering the Indian Ocean, for a period of 02 years. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to hold the following official meetings in Sri Lanka and to host the same, was approved by the Cabinet.

i. Holding the 26th Meeting of the IORA Committee of the Senior Officials (CSO) on 30th and 31st May 2024.

ii. Holding the 27th Annual Committee of the Senior Officials (CSO) in November 2024.

iii. Holding the 24th meeting of the Council of Ministers (COM) in November 2024.
