Holding the First Conference of the Wetland Link International - Asia Oceania at Diyasaru Park, Colombo
- Wetland Link International (WLI) is an international support network for Wetland Education Centres which is led by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) of the United Kingdom. WLI consists of 350 Wetland Education Centres across 06 continents. The Wetland Link International Asia has been established as a subsidiary to the WLI for the improvement of Wetlands in Asia and it comprises 100 member wetlands. In addition, WLI-Asia together with the Wetland Centers of Australia and New Zealand have formed the WLI-Asia Oceania. It has been proposed to hold the First Conference of the WLI - Asia Oceania in Colombo hosted by Diyasaru Park which is managed by the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation, together with Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions as a MICE Tourism Promotion Programme from 16 to 22 June 2024. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to hold and host the said Conference in Colombo with participation of 100 foreign delegations and 75 local groups, was approved by the Cabinet.
