Vesting of Lands to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority under the provisions of the State Lands Ordinance

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at the meeting held on 2017‑12‑12 for the acquisition or purchase of 50 acres of land belonging to the Sri Lanka Cement Corporation for the development of the Kankesanthurai Port by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Port Authority, as of now, has paid an amount of Rs. 52 million to the Sri Lanka Cement Corporation as an advance payment, based on the valuation of the Chief Government Valuer for the acquisition of the relevant land to the Sri Lanka Port Authority. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to take over some of the identified lands in extent of 23 acres and 12 perches to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority under section 6(1) of the State Lands Ordinance as an absolute free grant, was approved by the Cabinet.
