Providing Sanitary Pads for School Girls

- The total number of student population in Sri Lanka is approximately 04 million and it has been calculated that out of which 1.2 million school girls have attained puberty. The proposal made by the Minster of Education to implement a programme to provide sanitary pads free of charge annually for 800,000 school girls in most difficult schools, difficult schools, isolated schools, estate schools and urban schools with school girls in poverty, with effect from April 2024, was approved by the Cabinet.
