Establishment of Energy Efficiency Testing Laboratory for Air Conditioners in Sri Lanka

- The Government of Korea has agreed to support the establishment of a laboratory in Sri Lanka to test the energy efficiency of air conditioners under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Project. The establishment of the laboratory and the training of the necessary human resources of the project which is financed through the Korea Energy Agency are planned to be completed in the year 2024. The concurrence of the Department of External Resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Attorney General's Department has been received for the Record of Discussion to be signed by the Government of South Korea and the Government of Sri Lanka expressing their agreement for the implementation of the proposed project and the Terms of Reference. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Power and Energy to sign the Record of Discussion and the Terms of Reference between the two countries so that the proposed project can be implemented, was approved by the Cabinet.
