State Vesak Celebration of B.E. 2568

- The State Vesak Celebration of B.E.2568 (2024) is scheduled to be conducted centering the Matale District with the theme of 'Aththanowa Awekkheyya Kathani Akathani Cha (Let's be inquisitive for what we have done, not what others have done)' declaring the period from 2024-05-21 to 2024-05-27 as the Vesak Week. The opening ceremony and the closing ceremony of the State Vesak Celebration are to be held at Dharmaraja Piriwen Premises in Matale and the Sri Sunandarama Vihara premises in Millawana of Pallepola Divisional Secretariat Division respectively. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to implement the series of programmes planned for the State Vesak Celebration and close the animal slaughter houses, meat shops and drug selling places including liquor stores on 22, 23 and 24 May 2024, was approved by the Cabinet.
