Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2024-03-25 (Subject to Confirmation at the next Meeting)

Conferring the Expressways being in operation under the Road Development Authority to Sahasya Investments Ltd. (SIL)

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2024‑02‑05 to separate the expressway network, expressway lands, expressway loans(local) and the staff from the Road Development Authority and assign them with Sahasya Investments Ltd., in order to be able to manage them in a more commercial manner and approval has been given for the Action Plan related thereto at the Cabinet meeting held on 2024‑02‑05. Accordingly, Cabinet approved the proposal made by the Minister of Transport and Highways to transfer the day-to-day operations and management of the existing expressways to Sahasya Investments Ltd., under a formalized Management Agreement, to be effective from 2024‑04‑01 and to transfer all relevant assets to Sahasya Investments Ltd., within a period of 06 months after conducting a legal and a financial feasibility study which will be jointly carried out by the Road Development Authority and Sahasya Investments Ltd.
