Importing eggs required for providing eggs to the consumers at a reasonable price

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2023-12-18 to import eggs upto 2024-04-30 in order to maintain a stable price for eggs in the local market. Accordingly, approximately 18 million eggs have been imported so far and it has been calculated that another 42 million eggs should be imported for the needs during the festive season. Bids have been invited from the Indian companies recommended by the Department of Animal Production and Health to import the required quantity of eggs and the proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies to award the relevant procurements as per the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Approved Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
