Providing relief to Low-income families

- At the beginning of the year 2023, arrangements were made by the Government to provide Nadu rice 10 kg for each family per month for a period of two months covering approximately 2.74 million families in 25 districts including Samurdhi beneficiaries. It has been observed that it is appropriate to implement the said programme in this year as well as a support to maintain the nutrition level of identified low-income families. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President to implement the programme of providing 10 kgs of rice for one family per month for a period of two months covering approximately 2.74 million low-income families identified through District Secretaries/Government Agents with the involvement of Small and Medium Scale paddy millers, was approved by the Cabinet.
