Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2024-03-04 (Subject to Confirmation at the next Meeting)

Developing the main railway station buildings in the city of Colombo as Commercial Centres

- It has been identified at the Cabinet meeting held on 2023-11-06 that there's a high potentiality to develop the lands and buildings where Wellawatta, Bambalapitiya, Kollupitiya and Kompanna Veediya Railway Stations are located, as Commercial Centres. Accordingly, the joint proposal made by the Minister of Transport and Highways; and the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to develop the said railway stations and the railway stations in Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia in addition to the above railway stations on Build, Operate and Transfer method under the Public-Private Partnership and call for Expressions of Interest from the interested investors, was approved by the Cabinet.
