Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2024-03-04 (Subject to Confirmation at the next Meeting)

Submission of Imports and Exports (Control) Regulations No. 02 of 2024, issued under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, No.1 of 1969, for approval of Parliament

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2022-08-08 to implement a scheme for granting permits to import fully electric vehicles for Sri Lankans employed abroad on the transfer of foreign remittance to the licensed banks in Sri Lanka through the formal banking channel and has decided to extend the validity period of the scheme upto 2024-06-30 at the Cabinet meeting held on 2024-01-08. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies to submit the Imports and Exports (Control) Regulations No. 02 of 2024 issued under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, No.1 of 1969 making provisions for that, for approval in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
