Current status of negotiations on the proposed India-Sri Lanka Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA)

- The 13th Round of Negotiations on the proposed India-Sri Lanka Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement has been held in New Delhi from 8th to 10th January 2024. There, nine Sub‑Committees; namely "Trade in Goods", "Preamble, General Provisions and General Exceptions", "Trade in Services", "Rules of Origin", "Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation", "Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures", "Technical Barriers to Trade" ", "Trade Remedies" and "Economic and Technology Cooperation" have conducted negotiations., The Sub-Committee on Dispute Settlement and Final Provisions is scheduled to hold discussions on the relevant chapter in New Delhi in late February 2024. Also, it has been planned to conduct the 14th Round of Negotiations of the proposed Cooperation Agreement in the first week of March, 2024. Cabinet considered the information submitted by the Hon. President on the Current status of the proposed India-Sri Lanka Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement.
