Amendment to the Online Safety Act No. 9 of 2024

- The Online Safety Act No. 9 of 2024 was passed by Parliament and the provisions thereof is in force at present. Since the amendments moved at the Committee Stage of the said Bill in Parliament should be made in keeping with the determination of the Supreme Court, it has not been able to introduce amendments submitted by the experts in the field to the said Bill. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Public Security to instruct the Legal Draftsman to prepare a Bill to amend the Online Safety Act based on the amendments identified by having further discussions with the experts in the field who had submitted the relevant amendments, was approved by the Cabinet.
