Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2024-02-12 (Subject to Confirmation at the next Meeting)

Making applicable the 'Urumaya Programme' which endows Land Permits and Grant Holders the Absolute Ownership of State lands, for the lands granted to the public by the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2023‑12‑11, has granted approval to implement the "Urumaya Programme" which endows Land Permits and Grant Holders the Absolute Ownership of State lands. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Irrigation to implement the "Urumaya Programme" pertinent to the lands granted to the general public by the the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority as well in keeping with the programme being implemented by the Ministry of Tourism and Lands, was approved by the Cabinet.
