Amendments to the Penal Code

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meetings held on 2021‑01­‑18 and 2021‑06‑28 to introduce amendments to the Penal Code in order to amend the law on statutory rape in the Penal Code and fill the gaps in the law of rape and make the rape of boys a heinous crime. Accordingly, the clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman. The proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter, present the same in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
