Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2024-01-24 (Subject to Confirmation at the next Meeting)

The Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka and the Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC), United States of America

- In terms of the provisions of the Agreement reached between the Ministry of Health and the Latter-day Saint Charities of the United States of America in order to obtain special wheelchairs for persons with spinal cord injuries, Sri Lanka has received a consignment of wheelchairs and other mobility aids as donations. Upon a request made by the Ministry of Health considering the severe shortage of oncology pharmaceuticals existed during the recent past, the Latter-day Saint Charities has agreed to supply a stock of 13 types of such drugs to Sri Lanka as a donation through the registered suppliers of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority. Accordingly, the Cabinet decided to grant its concurrence to pursue action, based on the facts presented by the Minister of Health regarding the acceptance of the relevant donation, following the accepted procedure.
