Establishment of a University of Science and Teachnology in Sri Lanka

- With the objective of preparing the foundation to create a cadre of skilled professionals to take the leadership in critical sectors of new scientific discoveries, technological innovation and sustainable development, it has been identified the appropriateness of establishing a University of Science and Technology in collaboration with a renowned university in United States of America. Such a university will cater to utilize cutting-edge methodologies, foster global academic connections and create an environment for research and development. The proposal made by the Hon. President to select one partner university from among several identified universities including UC Berkeley, UC Riverside, UC Davis, University of Michigan and establish the proposed University of Science and Technology as a Public-Private Partnership in collaboration with the said university, was approved by the Cabinet.
