The recommendations submitted to the Hon. President by the Finance Commission for 2024

- Finance Commission has been established in terms of the Article 154R of the Constitution to assess the funds adequate for the Provincial Councils and to submit recommendations to apportioning the funds allocated for the Provincial Councils from the National Budget more meaningfully among the Provincial Councils with the aim of achieving a balanced regional development in the country. The Cabinet granted approval for the following recommendations submitted to the Hon. President by the Commission for 2024.

• Recommendations pertaining to the assessment of provincial capital and recurrent needs for 2024.
• Recommendations pertaining to the apportionment of public grants among the Provincial Councils for 2024.
• Policy recommendations pertaining to meaningful allocation of resources for the Provincial Councils and use of such resources more effectively.

In addition, the Cabinet approval was also granted to submit the Report of the Finance Commission with recommendations submitted by the same Commission for 2024 to the Parliament in terms of the provisions of paragraph (7) of Article 154R of the Constitution.
