Importation of Maize and Essential Food Commodities by Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Limited

- Due to the absence of sufficient stocks of maize in the open market, there is a shortage of raw materials required for the production of poultry feed. As a temporary measure, the Department of Animal Production and Health has issued the required license to Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Limited to import 15,000 Metric Tons of maize. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Development to procure maize from registered foreign suppliers by the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Limited, subject to a maximum of 15,000 Metric Tons, was approved by the Cabinet.
