Entering into an Agreement with the British Council for a Pilot Project of training English Teachers in the Sabaragamuwa Province

- It has been planned to implement a capacity development program together with the British Council to provide formal training for English teachers in the Sabaragamuwa province and enhance their language knowledge and teaching skills. Under the said programme, it is expected to select 700 teachers and provide them with a formal training through the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) course affiliated with the Cambridge University. The proposed training program is to be implemented with the funds of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, and a sum of Rs.51 million has been estimated for the purpose. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Council and Local Government to enter into an Agreement between the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and the British Council for the implementation of the said programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
