Establishment of an Inter-Ministerial Standing Committee on Human Rights

- The necessity of appointing an Inter-Ministerial Standing Committee on Human Rights has been identified, enabling to act as a Standing National Framework for an effective domestic process of follow-up and reporting on Sri Lanka's undertakings on human rights and reconciliation. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to establish an Inter-Ministerial Standing Committee on Human Rights with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acting as the coordinating/lead agency, was approved by the Cabinet.
