Entering into a Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka

- It has been proposed to sign a Treaty between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. Accordingly, a draft Treaty has been prepared jointly by a group of representatives consisting of senior officials of the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Attorney General's Department and a group of representatives of relevant institutions of the Republic of Korea. It is expected to improve the effectiveness of crime prevention, investigation, prosecution and suppression of crime in both States. The proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to sign the said Treaty between the two parties and then ratify the same by respective Diplomatic Missions of the two countries,was approved by the Cabinet.
