Amendment to the Penal Code (Chapter 19) - Increase of Fines

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2022‑12‑12 has granted approval to prepare a Bill to amend the fines referred to in the Penal Code in line with the current monetary value. Accordingly, the clearance of the Attorney General has been received to the Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and submit the same thereafter, to Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
