Carbon Net Zero 2050 Roadmap and Strategic Plan

- Sri Lanka, as a party to the Paris Agreement, has agreed to achieve the net zero carbon status by 2050 through the updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Accordingly, enabling to reach the said target, the Carbon Net Zero 2050 Roadmap and Strategic Plan has been formulated by a team of experts through wider stakeholder consultations identifying actions with potential strategies for reducing green house gas emissions and increasing carbon sequestration to become carbon neutral country by 2050. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Environment to implement the said Roadmap and Strategic Plan, was approved by the Cabinet.
