Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation between the Press Council of Sri Lanka and the Press Council of India
- A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Press Council of Sri Lanka and the Press Council of India on 2018‑11‑16 for a period of 05 years in order to create cooperation between the two parties in relation to areas such as developing the knowledge and skills of journalists by conducting subject related workshops and conferences, implementing resource exchange programmes between the two parties, activities related to the development of media ethics and promoting media freedom and dissemination of orderly use of media. Since the said period of time has been expired as of now, it has been proposed to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding for another 5 years. Concurrence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been received for the proposed draft Agreement. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Mass Media, to sign the proposed Memorandum of Understanding, was approved by the Cabinet.
