Amendment to the Prevention of Frauds Ordinance
- The Prevention of Frauds Ordinance has been amended by Act No.30 of 2022 in accordance with the amendments introduced to the Wills (Amendment) Act No.29 of 2022 and the Notaries (Amendment) Act No.31 of 2022. Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at the meeting held on 2023‑05‑08 to further amend the Notaries (Amendment) Act No.31 of 2022 in order to avoid the uncertain interpretations/complications that have arisen in the said Act and also to simultaneously amend the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Frauds Ordinance. Accordingly, the clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman to amend the Prevention of Frauds Ordinance. Therefore, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to publish the said bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter present the same in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
