Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2023-11-06 (Subject to Confirmation at the next Meeting)

Providing alternative lands for families who lost houses due to the land acquisition and vesting under the Greater Hambanthota Development Project

- Since 97 families have lost their houses due to the Greater Hambanthota Development Project, they should be provided with alternative houses. A State land in extent of 10.11 hectares located at Siribopura, Hambanthota has been identified for that purpose. 126 blocks of land in the said land have been identified for the residential use and at present 84 families out of 97 families who have lost houses have been allocated blocks of land. Accordingly, taking into consideration the proposal submitted by the Minister of Urban Development and housing, the Cabinet decided to allocate blocks of land from the state land in extent of 10.11 hectares located at Siribopura, Hambanthota to the families who have lost houses due to the Greater Hambanthota Development Project and provide legal Grants for the said blocks of Land under the guidance of the Commissioner General of Lands.
