The revision of the existing General Policy Guidlines in respect of the supply of electricity

- The Minister in-charge of Electricity has been vested with the power to prepare General Policy Guidelines on supply of electricity subject to the approval of the Cabinet as per the provisions of the Electricity Act, No. 20 of 2009. Accordingly, as per the existing General Policy Guidelines, the tariff review period has been determined as six (06) months. The joint proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies and the Minister of Power and Energy to revise the tariff review period as three (03) months taking into consideration the difficulties faced by the general public due to pursuing action accordingly and to revise the existing General Policy Guidelines, enabling to conduct Energy Dispatch Audit of the Ceylon Electricity Board and to improve the predictions of electricity with the assistance of the Department of Meteorology, was approved by the Cabinet.
