Amending the Motor Traffic Act

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2023‑06‑05 has granted approval to implement the recommendations of the Report submitted by the Officials' Committee appointed under the Chairmanship of the Secretary to the Prime Minister to examine the matters relating to the implementation of the e-Motoring Project and submit recommendations to the Cabinet. It has been identified the necessity of amending the the Motor Traffic Act as appropriate to provide for necessary interim provisions for the implementation of the said Project and for matters incidental. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Acting Minister of Transport and Highways to instruct the Legal Draftsman to prepare a Bill for the said purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
