Signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the International Centre for Migration Policy Development and the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment

- It has been planned to establish a Migrant Resource Centre in the Eastern Province for providing adequate, timely, reliable information and guidance to migrants, returned migrants and prospective migrants to enable them to make informed decisions to reduce the risks and challenges they face when traveling, working and living abroad, and the Government of New Zealand has expressed its willingness to grant required assistance for the purpose. Accordingly, the Government of New Zealand has agreed to provide a grant of 350,000 New Zealand dollars for the implementation of the proposed project by the International Center for Migration Policy Development through the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment of New Zealand. The proposal made by the Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment to sign a memorandum of understanding between the International Center for Migration Policy Development in New Zealand and the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment of Sri Lanka in order to establish the proposed Centre, was approved by the Cabinet.
