Recognition of Medical Degree Courses of Internationally Recognized Universities in Sri Lanka

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2023‑05‑02 has granted approval to appoint a Committee chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minster to submit appropriate recommendations to formulate a National Policy with standards and criteria to be based for the recognition of Medical Degree courses of internationally recognized Universities, in Sri Lanka and to amend the provisions of the Medical Ordinance to suit the present day needs. Accordingly, the joint proposal made by the Hon. President and the Minister of Health to take necessary action to impose required legal provisions enabling to recognize the Medical Degrees awarded by foreign universities ranked 01 to 1000 as per the international ranking systems, based on the Report containing the recommendations of the Committee so appointed, was approved by the Cabinet.
