Construction of 1996 housing units for low income families under the Chinese Aid Programme

- The Government of China has concurred to grant financial aid of Yuan 552 million to the Government of Sri Lanka to construct 1996 housing units as an assistance to the Urban Regeneration Project which is being implemented as per the decision made to relocate residents from settlements with limited facilities in the Western Province and settle them in the housing Units of Urban Housing Schemes with improved amenities. The Government of Sri Lanka, under the entire project, will carry out the land development activities and provide necessary infrastructure up to the boundary of the work sites. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minster of Urban Development and Housing to sign the implementation Agreement of the relevant project with the Government of China, was approved by the Cabinet.
