Bill on the Establishment of National Women's Commission

- Approval has been granted at the Cabinet meeting held on 2022-09-05 to establish an independent commission named as National Women's Commission through an Act of Parliament, enabling to make necessary recommendations to Parliament through the Minister-in-charge to provide leadership for women's rights and gender equality and intervene for the issues related to gender equity and equality. Accordingly, the said Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman was submitted by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Women, Children Affairs and Social Empowerment to the Cabinet and it was decided to grant concurrence of the Cabinet in principle for the same.
