Bill on Gender Equality

- It is evident that Sri Lanka is lagging behind with regard to Gender equality in Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment is taking measures to minimize the gender imbalances. Accordingly, approval has been granted at the Cabinet meeting held on 2022-09-05 to prepare a Bill to introduce the necessary legal provisions with the objective of Gender equality and women empowerment. Accordingly, the said Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman was submitted to the Cabinet by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Women, Children Affairs and Social Empowerment and it was decided to grant concurrence of the Cabinet in principle, for the same.
