Implementing a Pilot Project for Beire Lake Water Quality Improvement

- As per a proposal submitted by Groepo Pte Ltd (GPL), a Singapore company with Japanese ownership, approval in principle of the Cabinet was granted at the Meeting held on 2023‑07‑17 to pursue action to implement a Pilot Project together with several Government Institutions to improve the water quality of the Beire Lake using micro-nano bubble technology, carbon fiber biofilm technology and eco‑friendly enzymes. Accordingly, Cabinet approved the joint proposal made by Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies and the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to implement the proposed pilot project for a period of 05 years, subject to providing necessary guidance to implement the said project by an Experts Committee comprising of experts in the field of water quality in all universities of the country and representatives of all relevant research and other agencies, taking into account the further information presented by the project investor, and thereafter, arrive at a decision regarding the further implementation of the project, based on the outcome achieved.
