Anti-Terrorism Bill

- The approval of the Cabinet has been granted on 2022-09-05 to publish the Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman to introduce the Anti‑Terrorism Act by repealing the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act in the Government Gazette and thereafter present it in the Parliament according to which the said Bill was published in the Government Gazette on 2023-03-22. Subsequently, several interested parties (local and International) have submitted their views on certain sections of the Bill. Accordingly, the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms has formally invited opinions and suggestions from the interested parties through electronic and electronic media, and the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms has held discussions with some parties. Hence, taking into consideration all the opinions and suggestions that have been submitted, necessary action has been taken to re-revise the original Bill published in the Government Gazette and prepare a fresh Bill through the Legal Draftsman. The clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the said fresh Bill. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter, submit the same to Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
