National Policy and Action Plan on Migration for Employment Sri Lanka 2023 - 2027

- The first policy of Sri Lanka on labor migration has been formulated in the year 2008 as the National Labor Migration Policy. The said Policy has been reviewed by obtaining views of all stakeholders in the labor migration sector including relevant Ministries, migrant workers and their family members, foreign employment agencies, private sector, civil society organizations, trade unions, academia, research institutions and development partners, international non-governmental organizations and United Nations Agencies and the National Policy and Action Plan on Migration for Employment Sri Lanka 2023 - 2027 has been drafted. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment to implement the said Policy and Action Plan 2023‑2027 formulated in accordance with the national and international legal and policy frameworks, was approved by the Cabinet.
