Establishment of Diplomatic Relations by the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka with the Union of the Comoros and the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe

- The African region consists of 54 sovereign States recognized by the United Nations. Out of which, Sri Lanka has established diplomatic relations with 46 countries and is awaiting concurrence from 6 more countries. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to establish diplomatic relations with the Union of the Comoros consisting of a group of islands situated in the Eastern Africa of the African Region and the São Tomé and Príncipe, an African island located in Gulf of Guinea, was approved by the Cabinet.
