Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2023-09-04
Leasing out of the servient right of several land lots located in Muthurajawela owned by the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation, for laying of an underground pipeline system of the Ceylon Electricity Board
- A land in extent of 69-acres in Muthurajawela owned by the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation, was set apart by means of selling to the Ceylon Electricity Board in 1997, and the Yugadanavi Power Plant has been built in a potion of the said land. The new Sobadhanavi power plant is currently being built in the remaining portion of the said land. The need for the construction of underground cooling pipelines and underground fuel pipelines for those fuel plants have been identified. For that purpose, several other plots of land in Muthurajawela owned by the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation have been identified, and accordingly the proposal made by the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to lease out the servient right of those plots along with the right to sub-lease, to the Ceylon Electricity Board on lease basis, was approved by the Cabinet.
