Simplification of the Existing Visa process of the Department of Immigration and Emigration

- The Department of Immigration and Emigration issues 3 types of Visa as Visit Visa, Residence Visa and Transit Visa to the foreigners who visit Sri Lanka in accordance with the Immigrants and Emigrants Act, No.20 of 1948 and its regulations. Taking into consideration the complexities of the Visa categories issued under 2 types of Visa; the Visit Visa and the Residence Visa and by exploring the Visa procedure implemented in the countries with greater tourist attractions, steps had been taken to re-review the visa process of the country. Accordingly, the proposals made by the Minister of Public Security to Simplify the existing visa processes further, was approved by the Cabinet.
