Submission of Regulations issued under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, No. 1 of 1969 for approval in Parliament

- An agreement has been reached during the discussions held with the relevant parties to lift import restrictions on number of other goods where importation has been temporarily suspended through the Imports and Exports (Control) Regulations No. 02 of 2023 through which import restrictions were imposed, while further continuing import restrictions on passenger motor vehicles and certain selected goods. The Imports and Exports (Control) Regulations No. 11 of 2023 have been published through the Gazette Extraordinary Notification No. 2341/38 dated 2023‑07‑20 by making provisions for the above purpose. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies to present the said Regulations to Parliament for approval as per the provisions of the the Imports and Exports (Control) Act No. 1 of 1969, was approved by the Cabinet.
