Submission of the Order issued under the provisions of the Sri Lanka Export Development Act, No.40 of 1979, for approval in Parliament

- An order has been issued under the provisions of the Sri Lanka Export Development Act No. 40 of 1979 to increase the CESS duty levied on the importation of clinker, which is an intermediate material required for cement manufacturing, and fully finished and ready for sale cement, anticipating to increase the revenue generated by importing cement and allied products, while facilitating local manufacturers. The proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Investment Promotion to present the said Order which has been published in the Gazette Extraordinary Notification No.2336/71 dated 16 June 2023, in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
