Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Australia for Cooperation in Sport

- The validity period of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Sri Lanka and Australia for a period of three years to develop cooperation in sports, has ended on 15 February 2020. It has been proposed to sign a new memorandum of understanding so that the said Memorandum of Understanding could be further extended for a period of three years aiming to identify the fields of sports in which outstanding talents can be shown between the two countries and exchange information and programmes between sportspersons and sports officials engaged in those fields as well as to strengthen the bilateral corporation in the field of sports based on mutual benefits. Accordingly, the two parties have reached to a consensus on the draft of the MoU prepared accordingly and the clearance of the Attorney General has also been received for the same. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs to sign the said MoU, was approved by the Cabinet.
