Project for strengthening Buddhist relations between Sri Lanka and India

- A Memorandum of Understanding has been entered into between Sri Lanka and India on 2022-03-28 to implement the projects under a grant of US$ 15 million provided by the Government of India in order to strengthen the Buddhist relations between the two countries. Under the said Memorandum of Understanding, both parties have agreed to allocate US$ 10 million to provide solar power facilities for Buddhist temples and pirivenas. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to sign a fresh Memorandum of Understanding by making the relevant amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding already entered, was approved by the Cabinet.
