Preparation of a Master Plan for development of the Hambantota District

- Although, approval of the cabinet has been granted at the meeting held on 2018‑06‑26 to assign the task of obtaining consultancy services for the preparation of a Greater Hambantota Regional Structure Plan and a Detailed Master Plan for Key Growth Centres to Surbana Jurong (Private) Company, action have not yet been taken as per the said decision. The Government has decided to give priority to the development of the Hambantota district, and it has been identified that it would be more appropriate to assign the task of preparing a master plan for the development of Hambantota district to Surbana Jurong (Private) Company itself, which has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing master plans for the development of the Colombo city and the Western Province, and the development of the Eastern Province Strategic Tourism Zone. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President to assign the said task to to Surbana Jurong (Private) Company, was approved by the Cabinet.
