Updated National Physical Planning Policy and Plan - 2048

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2020‑01‑02 has granted approval to update the National Physical Plan in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the 'National Physical Planning Policy and Plan - 2048' has been prepared based on the proposals made through the Throne Speeches and Budget Speeches presented by the Hon. President, Policy Framework of the Government, data updated by various institutions and the Report of the Inter-Government Panel on Climate Change - 2021 and as per the instructions of the Technical Advisory Committee established in accordance with the provisions of Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Act, No. 49 of 2000 and with the contribution of all relevant parties. Approval of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Physical Planning and the National Physical Planning Council has been received for the said plan. Accordingly, The Cabinet decided to grant its concurrence for the implementation of the updated National Physical Planning Policy and Plan - 2048 presented by the Minister of Urban Development and Housing.
