Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2023-06-12

Amendment to the Parliamentary Elections Act, Presidential Elections Act, Provincial Councils Elections Act and Local Authorities Elections Ordinance in consequence to the Regulation of Election Expenditure Act No. 3 of 2023

- It has been identified the necessity to make the incidental amendments to the Parliamentary Elections Act, Presidential Elections Act, Provincial Councils Elections Act and Local Authorities Elections Ordinance, with the enactment of the provisions of the Regulation of Election Expenditure Act No. 3 of 2023, and the approval has been granted to make the said amendments at the Cabinet meeting held on 2023-01-23. The clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman accordingly. The proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to publish the relevant Bill in the Government Gazette and present the same in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
