Augmentation of Common Wastewater Treatment Plant at Horana Export Processing Zone

- The discharge of sewage into the nearby streams due to the insufficient capacity of the Common Waste water Treatment Plant currently operating in the Horana Export Processing Zone, has become a matter at public nuisances. As a result, the Local Government Institutions have also requested the Board of Investments to expedite the construction of the 2000 m³/day under the augmentation of Common Wastewater Treatment Plant at Horana Export Processing Zone. The Board of Directors of the Board of Investments of Sri Lanka has granted its concurrence to implement this project using the funds of that Board. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Investment Promotion to implement the augmentation of Common Wastewater Treatment Plant at Horana Export Processing Zone using LKR 1,110 Mn from the funds of the Board of Investments, was approved by the Cabinet.
