Contempt of Court, Tribunal or Institution Bill

- Approval has been granted at the cabinet meeting held on 2022-06-27 to introduce a new law on "Contempt of Court" consisting of clear and specific provisions on the offense of "Contempt of Court" and defenses, sentencing and the procedure to be followed in mitigating circumstances. Accordingly, the clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. The proposal made by the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter submit to the Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
